Jurg van Vliet


Jurg van Vliet is founder and CEO of 9Apps, implementing and operating virtual infrastructures for a select group of customers on Amazon AWS. Customers include Layar, Kulitzer, Peecho and Buzzer. With this experience 9Apps develops cloud tools for Amazon AWS and Eucalyptus (Ubuntu Private Cloud), enabling development teams to build and maintain their virtual infrastructures. Decaf for Android, 9Apps’ first application, was finalist in Android Developer Challenge 2.

Educated as computer scientist, at the University of Amsterdam, Jurg’s career has mostly revolved around (web) startups. After building several successful teams, products and ventures the Amazon style cloud is the focus of his attention. Trained in software development and years of experience running physical and virtual infrastructures Jurg is trying to understand the impact of this type cloud computing. Virtualization moves the infrastructure from classic IT to software development. 9Apps is empowering developers and development teams to incorporate this new aspect into their projects and processes.
